  This photo was taken by my father in an safari at Kabini National Park , Karnataka , India . This photo was taken when the wild dog hunted its prey and having feast . Dhole The dhole is a canid native to Central , South , East Asia , and Southeast Asia . Other English names for the species include Asian wild dog , Asiatic wild dog , Indian wild dog , whistling dog , red dog and mountain wolf . It is genetically close to species within the genus canis , but distinct in several anatomical aspects : its skull is convex rather than concave in profile , it lacks a third lower molar and  the upper molars sport only a single cusp as opposed to between two and four .  The Indian wild dog can survive in a wide array of environments . Leopard The Leopard is one of the five extant species in the genus panthera , a member of the felidae. It occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa , in small parts of Western and Central Asia , on the Indian subcontinent to Southeast and East Asia . Leopards are the smallest of the large cats (to include lions , tigers , and jaguars ) . They have a body structure similar to jaguars and are covered with flowers -shaped spots on their backs called rosettes , with no dot in the center . This profusion of spots helps leopards hide from their prey , breaking up their body outline in forests or grasslands . Leopards living in dry grasslands are a lighter color than those found in rain forests .  Although a powerful and clever hunter , leopards are not always at the top of the food chain . Green Bee Eater It is also known as little green bee-eater , is a near passerine bird in the bee-eater family . It is resident but prone to seasonal movements and is found widely distributed across sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal and the Gambia to Ethiopia , the Nile valley , western Arabia and Asia through India and Vietnam . They are mainly insect eaters and they are found in grassland , thin scrub and forest often quite far from water . Several regional plumage variations are known and several subspecies have been named .  It is intensely green overall with greenish-blue throat , a thin black throat band , and long central tail feathers . Juveniles are duller than adults and lack the long tail feathers . In some parts of its range , birds may have a rusty crown or a bright blue throat . Some population show seasonal movements . Their calls are a series of gentle liquid trills .

Shikra It is a small bird of prey in the family Acciopitridae found widely distributed in Asia and Africa where it is called as the little banded goshawk .  It is find throughout the India .It is a raptor and is an extraordinary hunter . It swoops down on the prey and kills even poisonous snakes with the hit from the sharp beak . It then takes the prey to a perch on a tree limb to eat . In turn the Shikra is prey to larger raptors , snakes ,  The Shikra has six subspecies ranging primarily from India to Africa . They vary in size from 26-32 cm with a wingspan of 55-61 cm and weigh an average of 125g . The life expectancy is from 2.5-7 years . The female is larger than the male and has dark orange eyes , whereas the male has red eyes . They have a long barred tail that helps them with balance during hunting . THIS WAS TAKEN BY MY FATHER IN AN SAFARI IN BANDIPUR TIGER RESERVE . HE TOOK THIS PHOTO WHEN THE ELEPHANT WAS READY TO CHARGE AT THEIR JEEP . Asian Elephant The Asian Elephant , also known as the Asiatic Elephant , distributed throughout the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia , from India in the west , Nepal in the north , Sumatra in the south , and to Borneo in the east . The elephant is the Earth's largest land animal , although the Asian elephant is slightly smaller than it's cousin .Asian elephant's can be identified by their smaller , rounded ears . It is the only living species of the genus Elephas   .   It is the largest living land animal in Asia . As the population decreased at least by 50 percent , the Asian elephant was listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List , since 1986 . It is primarily threatened by the loss of habitat , habitat degradation , fragmentation and poaching .
